Despite King Charles III's strained dynamic with
Prince Harry, His Majesty is eager to form a bond with his grandchildren
Prince Archie and
Princess Lilibet. "The situation weighs on Charles a lot more than he lets on," an insider told the
National Examiner. "These are his grandchildren, his flesh and blood. He wants to get to know them in the time he has left."

Unlike
Prince Harry's little ones,
Prince William's children are very close with King Charles III. "He cherishes the relationship he has with
Prince George,
Princess Charlotte and
Prince Louis," the source said. "But it's bittersweet because he doesn't know Harry's two [Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet] at all."

King Charles III, who's battling cancer, feels time is running out for him to know Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet. "Charles can't wait forever to form a bond with
Prince Harry's kids," the source said.

Following their exit from The Firm in 2020,
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't visited the U.K. with their children after the Duke of Sussex's government-funded security was downgraded. "There is a lot of control and ability in my father's hands," he said in a BBC interview, claiming King Charles III could change the situation. "Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts to do what is necessary."

Prince Harry's claim, King Charles III felt it was inappropriate to get involved. "He [Harry] has said that the dispute has always been the sticking point in any reconciliation with his father. He viewed the court's decision against him as 'an old-fashioned establishment stitch up,'" expert
Jennie Bond told The Mirror.
