claimed. "Balenciaga wanted global attention and Meghan delivered. Private jet, five-star suite, glam squad — all part of the agreement."

A spokesperson for Meghan Markle made it clear she attended the event to support her friend and former collaborator
Pierpaolo Piccioli as he made his debut as Balenciaga's new creative director. "Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage," the spokesperson said
in a statement. "She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance and tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga."

Meghan Markle's night out caused controversy due to a past Balenciaga scandal centered around an ad campaign featuring children alongside inappropriate accessories. "Why on earth would she go to a Balenciaga show? How could any mother support that brand?" one person wrote in the comments section of an Instagram post. "The 'duchess' of hypocrisy. A lady who claims to defend the interests of children, going to a fashion show that ran a disgusting campaign with children," a second critic wrote. Added a third, "Irony: a canceled woman turns up for a canceled brand. What is a mother thinking attending a fashion show of a house which used child models posing with [inappropriate] teddy bears?"
