According to a
report, Marius Borg Høiby was taken into custody in August 2024. Authorities accused the 28-year-old of attacking a 20-year-old female "psychologically and physically." The state prosecutor charged Høiby on 32 counts, including one count of r*** with s***** intercourse and three counts of r*** without intercourse. Høiby was also accused of filming the criminal encounters.

If charged, Marius Borg Høiby faces a steep punishment. "The maximum penalty for the offenses listed in the indictment is imprisonment of up to 10 years," prosecutor
Sturla Henriksbo explained in a
statement. While the young man will plead guilty to some lesser crimes, his attorney claims he will dispute the most serious charges. "He does not agree with the claims regarding r*** and domestic violence," his lawyer
said.

Marius Borg Høiby is not in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne nor does he have a public role within the family. Despite his famous bloodline, prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo made it clear Høiby will not be above the law. "The fact that Marius Borg Høiby is a member of the royal family should, of course, not mean that he should be treated more lightly or more severely than if similar acts had been committed by others," he said.
