When Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed Princess Charlotte in 2015, the Natural Sapphire Company sent an 18-carat white gold rattle, valued at $50K, to Kensington Palace._
After Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with that specific bauble in 2010, the Natural Sapphire Company wanted to thank them for the surge in business the engagement generated."When Kate and William were engaged with the iconic blue sapphire ring that once belonged to Princess Diana, our sapphire ring sales rocketed. Women everywhere wanted to be just as fashionable as Kate," the company said in a statement via Daily Express.

"Today, we continue to grow as a business and it is with great joy that we celebrate the birth of a new royal. We're thanking Kate [Middleton] and [Prince] William for introducing our company to the world, by gifting a custom-designed baby rattle, fit for their Princess [Charlotte]," the Natural Sapphire Company added._
Despite the sweet gesture, Princess Charlotte wasn't allowed to keep the toy, as Buckingham Palace's rule is that presents from commercial companies aren't accepted._
Even if Princess Charlotte had been allowed to receive the gift, Prince William and Kate Middleton likely wouldn't have wanted her playing with the ostentatious item."They're much more down-to-earth than most people would think," a source told RadarOnline.com. "They [the children] really do everyday chores. The kids are expected to pitch in and earn their pocket money by helping out."
