While appearing on a
Radio 4 Today special with
John Hunt and
Amy Hunt — whose family members were killed in a crossbow and knife attack — Queen Camilla recalled the violation she experienced as a teenager. "This boy, man, attacked me," she said. "I did fight back."
_
Luckily, Queen Camilla didn't sustain any injuries. However, the situation scared her mentally. "I remember getting off the train and my mother looking at me and saying, 'Why is your hair standing on end and why is a button missing from your coat?' I was physically attacked but I remember anger. I was so furious about it," she said.
_
Queen Camilla admitted the situation had been "lurking in the back of my brain" for some time. "When the subject of domestic abuse came up and suddenly you hear a story like John [Hunt]'s and Amy [Hunt]'s, it's something that I feel very strongly about," Her Majesty said.
_
After Queen Camilla's candid recollection, Amy Hunt told her, "Thank you for sharing that, Your Majesty. It takes a lot to share these things because every woman has a story."
_
Queen Camilla previously opened up about the harrowing situation during an interview with
Boris Johnson in 2008. "I did what my mother taught me to. I took off my shoe and whacked him in the groin with the heel," she
said.
