After Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip married in 1947 at Westminster Abbey, a slice of their wedding cake was given to popular royal staffer Cyril Dickman, whowas able to save one of the couple's 2,000 pieces.

The unique item, which was kept in its original box, was a gift from then-Princess Elizabeth, as Queen Elizabeth II had yet to ascend to the throne.Cyril Dickman, who died in 2012, reportedly never tried the dessert, and now, it's expected to be sold for around $200-$268 at Hansons Auctioneers.

Earlier this year, Gerry Layton bought a slice, which was given to Chief Petty Officer F Lownes, for $2,684 at Reeman Dansie Auctioneers of Colchester, Essex, per Daily Express._
Queen Elizabeth II previously called her husband, Prince Philip, her "strength and stay." In her final holiday message, Elizabeth gave a heartfelt speech during her first Christmas as a widow."But for me, in the months since the death of my beloved Philip, I have drawn great comfort from the warmth and affection of the many tributes to his life and work – from around the country, the Commonwealth and the world," she said.
