In a heartfelt message, Hendrix told Lady & Larder's almost 84,000 followers the news.
"It is with profound sadness that I share the devastating loss of my twin sister and co-founder, Boo Simms, who passed away this week due to a tragic surgery complication," Hendrix wrote. "This loss is immeasurable, and our hearts are completely shattered."
Hendrix and Simms became popular on social media due to their shared passion for wine and cheese.
"Boo was our magic maker, our color painter, and the brightest light I have ever known," Hendrix penned. "We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this overwhelmingly painful time."
"Our Carmel Valley location will be closed until further notice," the businesswoman informed customers. "Our Santa Monica location will remain open to serve you with the continued love and care that Boo always poured into everything we do."
"Your continued support means more than words could ever say," Hendrix concluded. "Thank you, from the depths of my being, for standing with us during this unimaginable time. With gratitude, Sarah."
Instagram followers rushed to the comments to share their condolences with the family.
"Sending you all of our love. And a promise to carry forward her indomitable spirit and radical positivity," one friend commented.
"I never met Boo in person, but she felt like a friend through our interactions on this app," a fan replied. "Always supportive, always inspirational. Always a smile and a kind word. I am heartbroken to hear this news. Sending so much love to you and your family in this time."
Simms often posted photos of her two daughters, Mavis and Bertie Lou, and her husband, Sean Montes. Her final social media message was with her little ones and spouse.
"Our magic ride continues on this little blue marble," Simms said in an Instagram caption on Thursday, January 2. "My toast for 2025: may we remember to wake up and dance. Listen more. Linger longer. Make gratitude our aesthetic. Go hard on the problem and soft on the person. Pick up the phone. Get our hands dirty."
