"No, we're not trying to start a third party," Bernie Sanders said on Meet the Press. "What we're trying to do is strengthen American democracy, where faith in both the Democratic and Republican parties right now is extremely low."
"What Democrats lack right now is a vision for the future. How are we going to provide a decent standard of living for a younger generation, which, everything being equal, will be poorer than their parents?" he continued, adding that he's generally on the "same page" with the Democratic Party when it comes to Donald Trump and his policies.

Earlier in April, Bernie Sanders said that rumors Donald Trump will seek a third term in 2028 are no laughing matter. When asked whether or not he laughs off the speculation that the former reality star will run again, he fired back, "No, I don't. The 22nd Amendment bars a president from running for a third term. However, Donald Trump began selling "Trump 2028" merchandise and hinted he would not rule out another stab at the White House."A lot of people want me to do it," he said in a March interview with NBC News. "But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it's very early in the administration."
When asked by The Atlantic's Ashley Parker and Michael Scherer in a Monday, April 28, interview about whether or not he wants the Justice Department to look into the matter, the former star of The Apprentice said, "That would be a big shattering, wouldn't it? Well, maybe I'm just trying to shatter."

Donald Trump's former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has continuously made it clear that he believes the businessman will remain in power."We're working on it," Bannon said in mid-March of a third Trump presidency. "I think we'll have a couple of alternatives, let's say that. We'll see what the definition of term limit is."

While the speculation is running rampant, former Republican house speaker Newt Gingrich claimed people may be getting ahead of themselves."He's not going to run for another term," the right-wing politician told NBC News of Donald Trump. "Don't underestimate the degree to which he believes any Trump-centered noise is good, because it starves his opponents."
