On Wednesday, May 7, Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to reveal Dr. Casey Means' nomination to become a key member of his administration."I am pleased to announce that Dr. Casey Means, will be nominated as our next surgeon general of the United States of America," he wrote. "Casey has impeccable 'MAHA' credentials and will work closely with our wonderful secretary of health and human services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our agenda in order to reverse the chronic disease epidemic and ensure great health, in the future, for ALL Americans. Her academic achievements, together with her life's work, are absolutely outstanding."
"Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest surgeon generals in United States history. Congratulations to Casey!" the right-wing leader concluded the post.

Although Dr. Casey Means reportedly earned her MD from Stanford University, she allegedly did not complete her residency for head and neck surgery. The health enthusiast earned notoriety on social media from people in the alternative medicine community — most notably, the "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) movement promoted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
According to the Oregon Medical Board, she was originally licensed in 2018 with a focus on otolaryngology (commonly referred to as "ear, nose and throat" or "ENT" or "head and neck" surgery). However, the current status of her medical license is "inactive."
In the FAQ part of her official website, Means lists doctors she recommends for treatments for people who follow her. "Dr. Casey is no longer seeing patients and is not able to comment on specific medical conditions or provide any medical guidance," the message reads.

Dr. Casey Means seems to be Donald Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s second pick for surgeon general after parting ways with his original selection, Fox News contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat. The health expert's confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee was supposed to take place on Thursday, May 8. However, after conservative activist Laura Loomer slammed Nesheiwat for her support for COVID-19 vaccines, her nomination was withdrawn.
"I am looking forward to continuing to support President Trump and working closely with Secretary Kennedy in a senior policy role to Make America Healthy Again!" Nesheiwat penned in a message shared to X before she was allegedly let go. "My focus continues to be on improving the health and well-being of all Americans and that mission hasn't changed."

While most people in Donald Trump's camp seem to be supportive of the new pick, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s former running mate Nicole Shanahan — an alternative medicine advocate — spoke out against the nomination of Dr. Casey Means and her brother Calley Means, who also works in the health space."It's very strange. Doesn't make any sense," she wrote in a message shared to X. "I was promised that if I supported RFK Jr. in his Senate confirmation that neither of these siblings would be working under HHS or in an appointment (and that people much more qualified would be). I don't know if RFK very clearly lied to me, or what is going on. It has been clear in recent conversations that he is reporting to someone regularly who is controlling his decisions (and it isn't President Trump). With regards to the siblings, there is something very artificial and aggressive about them, almost like they were bred and raised Manchurian assets."
