Ron DeSantis expressed the need for caution around Donald Trump's talks with Iran: "I don't see them as being good faith actors in any way, shape or form. And the reality is they cannot be allowed to enrich uranium, period. End of story," the Florida governor said."They are a militant Islamic government. Their view of mutual destruction with nuclear weapons is actually something they think would be fine because they think they're all going to go to heaven in paradise if that happens," he continued.

Donald Trump and his administration have remained optimistic about reaching an agreement with Iran. However, the one element the United States will not move on is their requirement that Tehran dismantle its uranium enrichment program."As the president told me and he's told all of you, this deal with Iran could end in two ways: It could end in a very positive diplomatic solution or it could end in a very negative situation for Iran. So that's why these talks are taking place," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained in a Thursday, May 22, media briefing.

On Thursday, May 29, Senior Iranian officials made it clear they are not anywhere near reaching an agreement with the United States."Iran is sincere about a diplomatic solution that will serve the interests of all sides. But getting there requires an agreement that will fully terminate all sanctions and uphold Iran's nuclear rights — including enrichment," the country's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post shared to X.
Ali Shamkhani, a top advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, noted in a social media update, "Talks serve progress, interests and dignity, not coercion or surrender."

Donald Trump's Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff made it clear the United States plans to hold strong on their stipulations."We have one very, very clear red line, and that is enrichment. We cannot allow even 1% of an enrichment capability," the official emphasized during an interview that aired on ABC's This Week.
