Following the settlement, President Donald Trump revealed that Skydance Media will also provide funds through advertising, public service announcements or similar programming. He claimed that the total payout will exceed $36 million, calling it a "big and important win." Wrote Trump, "This is another in a long line of victories over the Fake News media, who we are holding to account for their widespread fraud and deceit."

President Donald Trump further warned that Paramount might be just the first company to face legal repercussions. Taking to Truth Social, he wrote, "The Wall Street Journal, The Failing New York Times, The Washington Post, MSDNC [MSNBC], CNN and all other Mainstream Media Liars, are on notice that the days of them being allowed to deceive the American people are over. Make America Great Again!" His remarks come amid hints of a possible side deal with David Ellison, who is awaiting FCC approval for Skydance's proposed $8 billion merger with Paramount.

With news of the settlement, Senators
Elizabeth Warren,
Bernie Sanders and
Ron Wyden sent a letter to David Ellison, probing whether a side deal was made. The lawmakers cited President Donald Trump's remarks as raising "fresh questions about corruption." They also asked if Skydance played a role in the cancelation of
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, after the host of the program called the settlement a "big fat bribe." The senators have requested a response from Skydance by Monday, August 4.
