Us Weekly claims Andrew Garfield has a slow-burning loathing for fellow British thespian Robert Pattinson because he thinks the erstwhile Edward Cullen is the vampire Velveeta to his aged artisanal brie.
"The truth is, Andrew can't stand Rob," purports a source. "Andrew hates that they're put in the same category because they're both English and around the same age."
The evidence of this so-called "bitter rivalry" between the respective stars of "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Twilight," who have long appeared friendly (that's them posing shoulder-to-shoulder in 2009, at left), even hugging it out at several red-carpet events?
According to the mag, they ignored each other while attending the June 23 wedding of a mutual producer pal in New Jersey.
"They don't enjoy hanging out," chimes in another snitch. "Andrew considers himself 'a serious actor' and sees Rob as the equivalent of a cheesy boy bander because of 'Twilight.'"
But another insider dismisses the friction as nothing more than a "healthy Hollywood rivalry": "Both like intense parts and go after the same roles. They're just naturally competitive."
