Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones wear wedding rings on first outing since split
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are doing their best to maintain a united front in the wake of their August split. For the first time since they separated to "evaluate and work" on their 13-year marriage, the stars have been photographed together, and both had their wedding bands firmly in place.
On Dec. 22 in New York, the not-so-estranged pair stepped out for a jam-packed day of fun with kids Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10. On the schedule: lunch, followed by the Broadway musical "Motown" and the latest installment of "The Hobbit."
Zeta-Jones, 44, sported all black for the family get-together, while Douglas, 69, opted for a scruffy beard and a leather blazer last seen on Ray Liotta in "Goodfellas."
The actor has reportedly been spending quality time with Zeta-Jones and their kids, from trick-or-treating with them on Halloween to cooking them breakfast. He's also remained optimistic about the possibility of working things out.
"I hope to resolve my marriage in a positive fashion," he told the December issue of GQ. In October, Douglas assured Jay Leno, "Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the end. So, I'm very hopeful."
The couple, who have weathered his tongue cancer and her bipolar II diagnosis, are also about to mark a milestone: Fifteen years ago on New Year's Eve, Michael proposed to Catherine in Aspen with a 10-carat diamond ring.
