Getting the heave-ho from George Clooney must be a little like being booted out of the Garden of Eden, and his newly minted ex-girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, seems keenly aware of the paradise that was lost.
"Elisabetta is very down in the dumps," her mom admits to the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. "I've spoken to her and she is very sad, but these things happen."
Pipes in her physician father, "Certainly he would have made a good son-in-law. But it's my daughter who has to decide."
According to People, the two-year romance imploded because the Oscar-winning Sexiest Man Alive, 50, didn't have much in common with the marriage-minded, 32-year-old Italian model.
Clooney, an insider tells the mag, is "very politically astute and has an incredible intelligence. But he doesn't date women who are his equal or a challenge." (That sound you hear? A collective "duh" from every cocktail waitress George has ever cozied up to.)
