First, they gave us a hip new way to describe a celebrity split with the announcement of their "conscious uncoupling." Now, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are trying to set a refreshingly high bar for how amicable an A-list parting can be.
On March 24, one day before revealing to the world that they had separated after 10 years of marriage, the actress, 41, and the Coldplay singer, 37, escaped to the Bahamas with kids Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, to seek solace from the media storm that was about to be unleashed.
It was a calculated move, People reports, because the pair are hell-bent on keeping their parting as drama-free as possible.
"Because they have two kids, they are still going to be friends," a source told the magazine.
However, the source conceded, "the writing was all over the walls" for some time as far as an impending split was concerned. "This," the source added, "has been a long time coming."
Paltrow certainly also wants the world to believe all is well between her and her estranged husband as she continues to imply a united front. "CM and I in deep gratitude for the support of so many," she added as a post script to an article about cooking chicken on her GOOP site published three days after the split announcement.
The estranged pair dropped the bombshell news about their parting on March 25 in a post that briefly overloaded her GOOP lifestyle site, explaining to her readers that "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."
