Phil Carey, Feb. 6, age 83: Carey was a talented actor perhaps best known for his role as the tycoon Asa Buchanan in the ABC soap "One Life to Live," which he first starred on in 1979. The ruggedly handsome Carey started acting in war dramas and B movies in the '50s and became one of television's first regular actors, appearing on dramas and Westerns. Carey appeared in a then-controversial episode of "All in the Family" in 1971, playing an ex-football player who tells Archie Bunker he's gay.
