Clooney's Ex-Girlfriend Pines for Steve-O
The woman destined to be known forever as one of George Clooney's many former flames is attempting to hold on to her last few shreds of relevance. Her strategy: Talk wistfully of her most recent ex, the one who hasn't won an Oscar or been named Sexiest Man Alive but has stapled his scrotum to his leg.
Elisabetta Canalis tells Italy's A magazine (via the New York Daily News) that she's having trouble getting over Steve-O.
"Steve has a lot of strength and humor," she sighs. "It was one of the most important relationships of my life, and it doesn't feel as if it is over yet."
Her two-year romance with Clooney, by contrast, "is over," says the brunette. "It's all in the past. Every time I say something about it, it gets blown all out of proportion."
Steve-O reportedly cut Canalis loose in April after about four months of togetherness because his sobriety didn't mesh with her non-teetotaler ways.
"He is an open wound," she tells the mag. "He was in a fragile state, and I came into his life like a tractor. If I went out with my friends, even the fact that a bottle of wine was on the table would be a stress."
Elisabetta, who followed up her short-lived, post-Clooney "Dancing With the Stars" gig with a bikini-clad performance piece opposite Sacha Baron Cohen at the Cannes Film Festival, isn't discounting the possibility of a reunion. But she admits she'll have to get her temper under control.
"American men are more open, they are readier to express their emotions, but they also get frightened easily," Canalis sweepingly generalizes. "Italians are used to drama. For us, arguing, shouting is perfectly normal -- for them it is inconceivable."
