Rachel McAdams Got Super-Stoned While Trying to Beat Insomnia
It's one thing to ask the Whole Foods clerk in the homeopathic health care aisle for tips on vitamins. But we're not sure if we admire or feel mildly concerned about Rachel McAdams' propensity for trusting the advice of a grocer after the story she shared on "Jimmy Kimmel: Live!" Monday night. Basically, she told her neighborhood grocer in Toronto that she couldn't sleep. So he took her to the back of the store and hands her an unlabeled bottle of dark green liquid. "And he lifts it and says take a whiff of that ... And it's marijuana," she says. "I was like 'Oh no, no no, I want to sleep i don't want to get high.'" But, either because she's Canadian or because she's Rachel McAdams (or both), she tried a teaspoon full before bed. "By the time I'm getting into bed I'm like, 'My brain, what's happening?'" she says. "I wasn't thinking normal thoughts, I was hallucinating. I was lying there cursing him. And then I started to hear opera for five hours. This guy singing opera. I was going crazy."
She later returned to the store, where she told her pal the green grocer, "I'm really upset. He was like, 'Ooh, it didn't put you to sleep?'" And then, finally, sweet, opera-hallucinating Rachel McAdams had a realization: "I really looked at him and his eyes were like this big," she said. "I was like, 'You're a stoner!'" (And we are like, "Have you never seen 'Clerks,' Rachel McAdams?!")
