Blue Ivy Voted Worst Girls' Baby Name of 2012
She may be the heir to the throne of hip-hop and R&B, but all of the musically powerful DNA in the world won't make Blue Ivy Carter's name a trend. The opinionated users over at BabyNames.com have spoken – and declared that Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter has the most egregious girl's moniker of the year. "We're not seeing crazy names like Pilot Inspektor or Moxie CrimeFighter anymore," says Jennifer Moss, CEO of BabyNames.com. "I think celebrities are becoming a little more sensitive to the fact that the child has to live with his or her name." (Apparently, said sensitivity did not begin until sometime after May 2011, when Alicia Silverstone bestowed upon her offspring the hat-trick of unfortunate titles: Bear Blu Jarecki.)
As for baby boys, Alex O'Loughlin and Malia Jones' son, Lion, took the dubious first place in worst male names. Luca Cruz, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie's son, earned top marks as the best boy's name, while Jenn Shefft and Joe Waterman's conservative choice of Charlotte Grace was voted No. 1 in the best girls' names category.
