In honor of Princess Anne's milestone 75th birthday, Buckingham Palace shared 75 facts about the Princess Royale. One fact, however, was wildly inaccurate. The Palace shared that Her Royal Highness "has two stepchildren from her second marriage to Sir Timothy Laurence, Tom and Amy Laurence." (Princess Anne's husband does not have children.)

Royal watchers took to
Reddit to point out the inaccurate statement. "This is the first time I'm learning about them. Sir Tim's wiki makes no mention of them, and I thought Anne is Sir Tim's first wife?" one reddit user questioned. Someone else speculated, "It was a mistake and I am guessing it's because someone used AI to put together their birthday list."

Princess Anne's fans also reacted to the slip-up on X. "Tom and Amy Laurence? Either I've gone crazy or Sir Tim Laurence has secret children," one person wrote. "Pretty sure this is an error, but how did that happen? I can't think of any Tom [and] Amy siblings in the extended royal family," another person shared. "That is so odd? Could it be an AI mistake? Someone at [Buckingham Palace] made that list with ChatGPT but didn't check it? Otherwise that would be one heck of a plot twist," yet another fan chimed in.

While many fans assumed the Palace used ChatGPT or AI to list facts about Princess Anne, a source insisted that the project was well researched. "The facts were checked, and that one was a late addition, sourced from a reputable publication online, which unfortunately wasn't put back through the checking process," the source told
DailyMail.com. "There was no AI sourcing on our part."
