According to
Daily Express, King Charles III called Meghan Markle "tungsten." Tungsten is a hard metal, which refers to the Duchess of Sussex's strength.
"Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy," a palace insider told
Daily Mail.

"It's become a term of endearment," the insider continued.
Though Meghan Markle struggled to connect with the royal family, the insider stressed that the "tungsten" name was not intended as a cruel gesture.

Nicknames are seemingly common amongst the royals, as Meghan Markle often calls
Prince Harry "H."
"People didn't know we were dating for, talk about memory lane, so long ago. I mean, it'll be our seven-year wedding anniversary soon," Meghan said on "The Jamie Kern Lima" podcast. "I couldn't tell anyone who I was dating, and who was keeping [the secret], so I think we were just on a letter basis."
