Prince William also discussed the struggles of being a caretaker, as
Kate Middleton and
King Charles III underwent cancer treatment at the same time.
"I'd say '23–'24 was the hardest year I've ever had," William shared. "Life is sent to test us, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are."

The television special isn't the first time
Prince William has been candid about Kate Middleton's cancer battle.
"Honestly? It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life," the Prince of Wales said when asked about how he was doing during a trip to South Africa, per
BBC. "So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult."

"I'm so proud of my wife, I'm proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,"
Prince William continued. "But from a personal family point of view, it's been brutal."

Prince William often celebrates Kate Middleton, who is in remission after taking an extended break from duties to focus on her health.
"To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you've shown over the last year has been remarkable," William wrote in Kate's most recent celebratory birthday post.
