Harry Potter is getting a reboot: HBO Max is adapting the popular J.K. Rowling-penned book series for a new TV show.Following the news that the young actors who are set to portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley have been set, TheWrap reported on June 9 that more key roles have been filled.

TheWrap reported on June 9 that the new Harry Potter series will feature a handful of veteran actors — Rivals actress Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley (pictured), Emma and Ripley star Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, The Morning Show and Masters of the Air actress Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, stand-up comedian and actor Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and The Crown alum Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge — as well as many newcomers including Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown._
In late May, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout are set to portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley on HBO Max's new Harry Potter series. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint originally handled the roles._
HBO Max has yet to announce a formal release date, but Deadline reports the series will debut in 2026. According to the outlet, the show will be filmed in the summer of 2025. Oscar-winning costume director Holly Waddington has reportedly joined the series._
J.K. Rowling celebrated Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout being cast in the series on X, writing in May, "All three are wonderful. I couldn't be happier."_
Fans are already taking issue with the reboot on social media."The new Harry Potter TV show is gonna mess," one user wrote on X.
"Genuinely, WHAT is the point of remaking Harry Potter into a TV show when the movies are still popular to this day," another said.
"I'll be forever heated about the Harry Potter TV show," someone else complained. "It's so unnecessary."
