Petronella Wyatt told author
Andrew Lownie about an unpleasant interaction she had with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at a party in the 1990s. "He talked, and you had to listen and ignored all attempts to change the conversation," she
told the writer for his book
Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York. "He was as charming as a bull in a China shop and continued to make inappropriate jokes. He's the most out-of-touch royal I've ever met, and I've met lots. He really does believe in the Divine Right of Kings."

Colin Burgess, who worked as an assistant to The Queen Mother, recalled Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's mistreatment of royal staff. "I remember nearly telling him where to go when he came into Clarence House and wanted something wrapped," he told Andrew Lownie. "He looked at me and barked: 'You, wrap that!' and pointed to some object. I just thought, you rude, ignorant sod and felt like decking him."

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly projected an air of privilege toward those working within the Firm. "I saw Andrew about once a month, when he came to visit Clarence House and he would talk to the staff, including me, as an officer talks to his subordinates," Colin Burgess said. "He would say things such as: 'I want this done, and I want it done now,' or 'Have that done by such and such a time.' I remember him always saying 'Do it!' which was his catchphrase of sorts."

Ken Wharfe, the former bodyguard to Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry, remembered being told to move his seat on a plane so Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could have a window view. "Unlike the rest of his family, Andrew has always proven to be a very arrogant individual," he told Andrew Lownie. "It's just in his nature, and anyone he comes across in policing or public service is certainly of a lower class than him. His manners are just awful, and his behavior and attitude, quite frankly, does not endear him to everybody."

According to Andrew Lownie, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly put people's lives in danger when he was behind the wheel. During a 2010 incident, the former Duke of York allegedly hit a policeman while racing to Buckingham Palace. "The uniformed officer suffered an arm injury and complained to his superiors," he wrote. "But nothing was done."

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles and evicted from Royal Lodge over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The father of two was removed from his position as Knight of the Order of the Garter, and his Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order was rescinded. Queen Elizabeth II previously took away his military and charity patronages in 2022.
