Fox News has
reportedly achieved its second-highest-rated quarter in the network's history, drawing an average of more than three million viewers during weekday prime time. Fox's traffic surpassed that of ABC and NBC, which attracted 2.8 and 2.7 million viewers, respectively.

While Fox News continues to attract viewers, CNN is declining in popularity. The left-leaning network is reportedly averaging 71,000 total daily viewers in the coveted 25-54 age demographic. In 2024, the network averaged 92,000 total daily viewers in the demo.

As CNN sees a drastic decline in its audience, the network has attributed the shift to changes in how news is consumed. "Visitors across CNN's digital platforms are continuing to spend more time engaging with CNN's reporting and content offerings as the network continues to pursue a direct-to-consumer subscription strategy," the company said in a statement.

While CNN's daily broadcast has declined in viewership, the network noticed a boost in traffic when it aired a special broadcast of George Clooney's Broadway version of Good Night, and Good Luck. According to reports, the special brought in 7.3 million viewers across platforms during its broadcast. In a press release, CNN shared that their ratings increased by 26% in June from the previous month, and they saw demo gains.

While CNN is seeing a decline in viewership as Fox News dominates the daytime news slot, the network is working to expand its digital footprint. "Stories like these are an outdated view of the media landscape and do not reflect how audiences today actually consume news," a CNN spokesperson told
Mediaite in response to the ratings report.
