According to The New York Post, Stephanopoulos — who used to be a Democratic advisor — felt the entire Trump situation was "emasculating."
"George seems miserable," one insider close to the show alleged. "He's definitely gone. He's a dead man walking for sure."

Despite some thinking the journalist wants out, others claim it could not be further from the truth. "This is nonsense, anyone watching GMA can see he's engaged, all-in and as committed as ever. He's happy to be here," a separate source added.
As it currently stands, Stephanopoulos and his fellow anchors, Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, are being paid a reported $75 million per year for their hosting duties.

If the former White House communications director's time with the program ends, his female counterpart, 64, could allegedly advocate for GMA Weekend anchor Gio Benitez to take the job. "Robin calls the shots at GMA," a third insider claimed.
"Everybody thinks Gio could be the new George," another source spilled to the outlet. "He's in with the in crowd."

However, Benitez's name isn't the only one being thrown around. Superman actor Christopher Reeve's son Will Reeve has reportedly been in the mix of people who could take over for Stephanopoulos.
"If you could put Superman on GMA wouldn't you?" an additional insider quipped.
Although there's been much talk about a possible shuffle, others claim the company could stick with Roberts and Strahan to keep costs down should the father-of-two exit.

ABC's parent company recently renegotiated Stephanopoulos' contract. However, it doesn't mean he won't be leaving in the near future.
"It's the Disney way," an ex-executive of the company alleged to the news organization. "They re-sign your contract then they move you out."
