As of Wednesday, June 25, more than 1,600 immigrants have been detained in Southern California over the course of just two weeks, according to the Department of Homeland Security. But it's not only official ICE agents whom residents need to worry about — there are now vigilantes impersonating federal officers. "It's incredibly disturbing to witness — not just as a human, but as an immigration attorney working with foreign talent," she added. When asked if the level of force used by ICE agents is necessary, Granet didn't hesitate: "Absolutely not. That is part of the chaos and scare tactics meant to be communicated through these raids. Part of President Donald Trump's plan is to create chaos."_
President Donald Trump has long vowed to carry out mass deportations — and this June, ICE operations in Los Angeles intensified, with no sign of them slowing down. Trump took to social media on June 15 to urge ICE to "do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in history." His order included "expanding efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside."
