Much has been made of Jay Cutler's decision to delete his Instagram account this week. Many assumed it had to do with his ex Kristin Cavallari's reunion with her high school sweetheart, Stephen Colletti, but the real reason Jay scrubbed his account remained unknown… until now.

The former NFL quarterback, a source tells E! News, didn't want to be pestered about his ex and her love life.
"In the wake of the [Stephen] photo, Jay was getting a lot of heat on social media. He was over it and deleted his account," the source said.
Jay, it should be noted, was never too active on social media. In fact, Kristin has said she's the one who actually ran his account.
"I think there needs to be a little clarification on Jay's Instagram," she told For The Win in 2018. "It's not him running it. It's me. It's what Jay would have if he had Instagram."

In April, Kristin and Jay announced on Instagram they were getting divorced after 10 years together. Since then, the couple's amicable split has turned somewhat nasty, with Kristin alleging that Jay is withholding money from her.
This week, Jay seemed to be the furthest thing from Kristin's mind as she reunited with Stephen, whom she famously dated on "Laguna Beach," MTV's super-popular reality TV show that aired from 2004 to 2006.
"2004 or 2020?!" she captioned the now-viral image.
Fans immediately clamored for a reconciliation, but multiple media outlets reported the two are just friends.
