After Donald Trump threw the United States economy into a panic over his tariffs on goods from other countries with the hope the move will pay off in the coming months, Charles Payne made it clear he's tired of hearing all the updates on the matter."Tell me after it's done," the Making Money star told host Bret Baier. "It's not helping because I think what you need here is, if you're going to start to really have these conversations, give us some real listed markers."
"Over the weekend, Apollo published a piece that said the average trade deal takes 18 months to put together and 45 months to implement," Payne continued. "Obviously, no one wants or hopes that this is going to be the case this time around. But if you come up every other day, 'Yeah, we just had a great call with so and so, and these guys,' it starts to take away credibility. It starts to smack of desperation, and we just don't necessarily need it. The American public wants this White House just to level with us."

Despite Americans having to take the brunt of taxes on items from outside of the country, Donald Trump has continued to insist the pain will be worth the reward."Sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something," he wrote on Truth Social. "We have been treated so badly by other countries because we had stupid leadership that allowed this to happen. They took our business, they took our money, they took our jobs."

Donald Trump's Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, also defended the tariffs and emphasized that the Republican leader knows exactly what he's doing by punishing other nations."We had tariffs — the president put tariffs on China, right, in 2018 — and then what China started doing is they started going through other countries to America," Lutnick told CBS's Face the Nation earlier this month. "They just built through other countries, through America. And so the president knows that, he's tired of it, and he's going to fix that."

While many Donald Trump loyalists have stayed true to the commander-in-chief, one of his supporters, billionaire Bill Ackman, recently came out against the sweeping tariffs."The consequences for our country and the millions of our citizens who have supported the president — in particular low-income consumers who are already under a huge amount of economic stress — are going to be severely negative. This is not what we voted for," the investor wrote on Truth Social. "Alternatively, we are heading for a self-induced, economic nuclear winter and we should start hunkering down."
