Either Russell Crowe is growing as a person, or he has a really good publicist. Or possibly both -- your call. According to the London Sunday Mirror, the notoriously ornery, phone-flinging actor coughed up some moolah to help a crew member on his currently filming "Robin Hood" flick. Word is, a boom mike operator named Denise was late to the London-area set of the Ridley Scott-directed pic because her car caught on fire, which led to some teasing from the cast and crew because she was driving a junker. "Russell joined in with some of it," says a source, "and she took it in good heart." Still, that didn't stop her from zinging the deep-pocketed Oscar winner back by pointing out, "Well, I suppose it's OK for you, Russell. You've probably never had to worry about finding [$8,000] for a new car." At that point, says the paper, a seemingly contrite Crowe clammed up, and later that day, he approached Denise and handed her a pile of cash, telling her, "There you go. You can buy a [$16,000] car now." She's reportedly the proud new owner of a 2007 Saab. "It was a lovely gesture by Russell, who is known on the set for his generosity," adds the mole.
Someone might want to check Megan Fox's closet for a sudden influx of understated, muted-hued size double-zero duds. The New York Post says Angelina Jolie's stylist was robbed of three boxes of couture intended for her A-list client. "Every designer who was sending pieces was trying to send their best stuff," an insider tells the paper of the theft, which supposedly occurred last Thursday in Los Angeles. "Angelina was just starting the fitting process for pieces to wear when she begins promoting 'Salt.'" On Saturday, the Oscar-winning do-gooder was photographed looking lovely in her de rigueur basic black as she climbed solo into her SUV outside an L.A. studio. A few days before, People magazine spied Jolie running errands and grabbing coffee at an L.A. office building with Brad Pitt and their brood -- Pax, 5, Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 3, and 1-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne (Maddox seemingly had a more pressing engagement). "They seemed super-happy," says a spywitness. "Angelina was carrying the twins. Shiloh was adorable and walking along on her own while Brad carried Zahara."
It was a romcom reunion in London in the wee hours of Monday morning as "Holiday" co-stars Cameron Diaz and Jude Law rendezvoused at a local hot spot. "They were having a whale of a time and were dancing around," a spy tells the London Daily Mail, which unkindly says that when the actress exited the club alone around 3 a.m., she looked "a tad worse for wear" (hey, we should all be so lucky to look that "worse for wear" after a night out). Law, who is winning raves in a new stage production of "Hamlet," left soon after, accompanied by a mystery brunette in a tight dress.
Turns out your mom was right about roughhousing: It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Over the weekend, bestest buddies Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson were snapped playfully -- but manfully -- tussling on an inflatable raft while vacationing in Portofino, Italy. But their wrasslin' might have been a bit too exuberant. After a few headlocks and a synchronized header into the water, Woody was seen holding what looked like an ice pack on his noggin as he and Owen chilled on a yacht.
