"That was America's Secretary of Defense saying to Fox's highly respected, highly credible, highly experienced Pentagon correspondent, 'Jennifer, you're the worst,'" Nicolle Wallace began a Thursday, June 26, recap of Pete Hegseth's morning press conference. "You saw her there take issue with the assessment and go on to defend her reporting – none of which has been disproven." Hegseth took issue with Jennifer Griffin's reporting on Donald Trump's airstrikes in Iran: She reported that the country's nuclear sites might not have been completely "destroyed," as his administration has claimed.

Nicolle Wallace noted that journalists have experienced an "onslaught of attacks" from Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump, who claimed the U.S. "obliterated" the targeted nuclear facilities in Iran. That claim has been called into question.

Nicolle Wallace pointed out how Donald Trump — who called for CNN to fire journalist Natasha Bertrand for her reporting on the airstrikes — and his cabinet have been combative in their responses to reporters asking if the nuclear plants were destroyed: "Why does the Trump administration respond to questions from reporters or lawmakers trying to ascertain the success of the mission in striking Iran's nuclear program by attacking everyone asking those questions?" Wallace asked.

Jennifer Griffin asked Pete Hegseth, "Do you have certainty that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordow Mountain? Are you certain none of that highly enriched uranium was moved?" The Secretary of Defense ignored the question, instead firing back in a press conference, "Jennifer, you've been about the worst."
