David Cruz, 1984-1994
Jennifer Lopez dated her high school sweetheart, David Cruz, into her mid-20s. Their romance kicked off when she was just 15 years old, and they reportedly split when she was 25.
Wesley Snipes, 1994-1995
Wesley Snipes and Jennifer Lopez reportedly had a short-lived romance in the mid-'90s. The two briefly dated after meeting on the set of "Money Train," during which J.Lo incidentally filmed her first sex scene with the actor.
Ojani Noa, 1997-1998
Jennifer Lopez married waiter Ojani Noa — whom she met in a Miami restaurant — in 1997. They divorced less than a year later, but that wasn't the end of their involvement with one another… In 2006, she sued him to prevent him from publishing a book about their marriage, claiming he was violating a confidentiality agreement. (She ultimately won.) Several years later, she successfully sued him again when he attempted to shop around a sexy video they shot on their honeymoon.
Tommy Mottola, 1998
According to the rumor mill, Jennifer Lopez's relationship with Mariah Carey is strained because J.Lo dated Mimi's ex-husband, Sony exec Tommy Mottola, after they divorced in 1998 — the same year Tommy started investing more energy into growing Jennifer's career. Neither party has ever confirmed they were truly an item.
Diddy, 1999-2001
Jennifer Lopez and Diddy were a serious power couple from the late '90s to the early aughts. The rapper was by her side for some of her most iconic red carpets moments, including when she donned the infamous green Versace dress at the Grammys in 2000. After some alleged cheating and a headline-making nightclub shooting incident — J.Lo and Diddy were both brought in on weapons charges, though she was quickly released — she ended the relationship.
Cris Judd, 2001-2002
Following her split from Diddy, Jennifer Lopez married her former backup dancer Cris Judd. They met in 2000 when he was hired for her "Love Don't Cost a Thing" music video and tied the knot in 2001. But by July 2002, Jennifer had filed for divorce. She later told Vibe of the relationship, "I loved Cris, still love him, he's one of the best people. This wasn't an easy thing to walk away from, but we didn't have what it takes to make a marriage work."
Ben Affleck, 2002-2004
Jennifer Lopez fell for Ben Affleck when they co-starred in the notorious 2003 flop "Gigli." They got engaged after less than a year of coupledom in late 2002 — around the time he co-starred in her iconic "Jenny from the Block" music video. But it would be decades before they made it to the altar…
Bennifer planned to tie the knot in Santa Barbara, California, on Sept. 14, 2003, but just days before they were set to exchange vows, they called off the wedding due to "excessive media attention." A few months later, they officially ended the relationship.
The Kevin Smith-directed dramedy in which they co-starred, "Jersey Girl," opened in theaters not long after that.
Marc Anthony, 2004-2011
Jennifer Lopez married a long-time friend, salsa singer Marc Anthony, in a private ceremony at her home in 2004 — barely five months after she ended things with Ben Affleck. In February 2008, the duo welcomed twins Max and Emme. But it wasn't mean to be: They announced that they were throwing in the towel three years later in 2011 and finalized their divorce in 2014.
They remained close in the years that followed: They raised eyebrows when they kissed at the Latin Grammy Awards in December 2016. While the lip-lock fueled the rumor mill, it ultimately became clear that they were simply successfully co-parenting their two kids.
Bradley Cooper, 2011
Just a few months after she split from Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez sparked romance rumors with Bradley Cooper. In September 2011, they had dinner together at New York City's Per Se restaurant. A month later, they were photographed driving together in Los Angeles. "After their date in New York, Bradley and Jennifer stayed in touch," a source close to J.Lo told People magazine at the time. "She does like his attention, and it makes her feel good that he seems so into her. She has a fun time with Bradley and he makes her laugh." Ultimately, however, nothing came of it.
Casper Smart, 2011-2016
Jennifer Lopez started dating dancer-choreographer Casper Smart in late 2011. "I just got out of a big, heavy, devastating thing, and he's helped me heal," she told People magazine of moving on with Casper following her split from Marc Anthony. The duo were off and on for years before finally calling it quits for good in 2016. They remained on good terms after that, with J.Lo telling Bravo host Andy Cohen after the breakup, "He's a good friend."
Alex Rodriguez, 2017-2021
Jennifer Lopez and former Yankees player Alex Rodriguez started dating in early 2017 and got engaged two years later. They never made it to the altar, though: In April 2021 — after A-Rod became embroiled in a headline-making cheating scandal — they released a join statement announcing that they'd called it quits after realizing they were "better as friends."
Ben Affleck, 2021-Present
In 2021, Jennifer Lopez reconnected with the love her life: J.Lo and Ben Affleck started spending time together again just weeks after she split from Alex Rodriguez. They got engaged (again) the following year and eloped in Las Vegas just a few months later in July 2022. "We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient," J.Lo wrote in her OnTheJLo newsletter while announcing their happy news.
