What substance abuse looks like
Matthew Perry is giving "Friends" fans a quick look into how his drug and alcohol abuse affected his character's appearance. "You can track the trajectory for my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season," the actor writes in "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," per Page Six. "When I'm carrying weight, it's alcohol; when I'm skinny, it's pills. When I have a goatee, it's lots of pills." Matthew also wrote that he sent to rehab immediately after filming his iconic wedding scene with Courteney Cox's character, Monica Gellar. Throughout the course of the sitcom, Matthew, who played the lovable Chandler Bing, estimates that his weight varied "between 128 pounds and 225 pounds." The "17 Again" star is now 18 months sober and was only recently clean when he filmed the HBO Max "Friends" reunion.
Wedding for one
Jennifer Garner hasn't been a bride for a while, but she recently had a "wedding." The actress chatted with Town & Country for a cover story and touched on her 50th birthday last spring. "I basically had a wedding for myself," she joked. "I was so shocked that I was doing it." As part of the bash, Jennifer wanted to give something back and not make it all about her (hardly something a bride would do) so she asked her guests to fill 5,000 backpacks with enough food to feed a family of four for a program called Blessings In a Backpack. "I put everyone to work," the actress said. Elsewhere, Jennifer was asked how she feels about being labeled "nice" in Hollywood. "I have no reason not to be nice. My life is lovely," she said while embracing the label. "I'm not always just nice. I can also be salty, and I can be taciturn, or I can be really serious about what I want to get done. It's not that I feel I'm underestimated in that way—I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and say, 'Just so you know, this isn't going to fly with me.' When that happens, I don't want you to be shocked that I'm a real person."
Brit blasts a friend
Britney Spears is igniting a feud with one of her closest allies (and a wedding guest). On Oct. 25, Brit bizarrely shaded Selena Gomez on Instagram over an American Music Awards speech in 2016 wherein the "Lose You To Love Me" said she didn't want to see people's bodies on social media. Brit, who often shows risqué pictures on Instagram, wrote, "Don't you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on Instagram ???!!!!! They say 'This is NOT something I would do' yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream!!!!" Although Britney didn't name Selena, the signs are clear. Selena was even featured in a song called "Ice Cream" by K-Pop girl band BLACKPINK. Selena fans pounced on Britney. "Leave Selena Alone," one said. Others told her to stop "obsessing" about Selena. "Selena has shown nothing but love and support for you throughout the years and in return she gets weekly shady instagram posts from you.. check yourself girl," another said. Britney, who edited the post, was even called, ironically, "toxic."
Final moments
Leslie Jordan had work on his mind in his final moments. The actor was on his way to the set of "Call Me Kat" in Los Angeles when he suffered a medical incident and crashed his car into a building, TMZ reported. Leslie died in the accident. The beloved actor was scheduled to film the Fox series on Oct. 24, but crew members became concerned when Leslie hadn't arrived more than an hour after his call time. Amidst his perceived tardiness, the cast and crew attempted to get in touch with Leslie. It was then that they discovered he'd passed away in the car crash. Little is known about the medical incident that led to the car crash, but Leslie had reportedly been complaining about shortness of breath recently. He was scheduled to see a cardiologist next week.
Dating game
Pete Davidson might just be generationally charming. While appearing on the Drew Barrymore Show, Martha Stewart, 81, said she'd happily date the former "SNL" star. "He's dated so many women," the lifestyle guru said. "I'm not saying that's bad. I think that's good. He's sort of cute. I know everybody loves him." Martha and Pete have known each other for years, having first met in 2015 on the set of the Justin Bieber Comedy Central roast. "He was on the Bieber roast with me, do you remember?" she asked Drew. "He was this little twerp. He was even twerpier than Bieber. He is a good guy. Very good guy and he knows how to get in and get out." Martha later said Pete is like her "lost son." Ok, that's weird.
War details
Conor Kennedy, the ex-boyfriend or Taylor Swift and great nephew of John F. Kennedy, "talked his way" into secretly fighting for Ukraine in its war with Russia, his famous father said. While on the Megyn Kelly Show, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he and his ex-wife had no idea that their son was joining the war effort. "He felt that he shouldn't be arguing about it … unless he was willing to have skin in the game and take his own risk. He didn't have any military experience and kind of talked his way into the unit," RFK Jr. said. "He's been in firefights, in mainly nighttime, and a lot of artillery fights with the Russians." Conor previously revealed that he joined Ukraine's International Legion but told almost nobody. "He had a job for a law firm, a really good law firm in Los Angeles, and I was looking forward to him living with me for the summer," RFK Jr. said. But, Conor soon told his father, "I'm not going. I want to talk to you. I don't want you to ask me what I'm doing.. He said, 'I will explain it to you at some point, but I do not want you to ask me now, and if you could just respect that it would mean a lot to me.' So I did." RFK eventually drew his own conclusions after stumbling upon his son's credit card bills. RFK said, "I'm very glad I didn't know what he was up to."
Home-schooling Down Under
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling's children are learning abroad. The actress gave rare insight into her private life, telling The Daily Telegraph that her and Ryan's two daughters are home-schooled every day in Australia, where the actor is filming "The Fall Guy." "I don't do the home-schooling myself because I've tried that and it's not one of my strengths," Eva said. "We travel a lot and one of my strong beliefs is that you try to always keep a family together, no matter what you're doing. Especially when the children are small." In speaking specifically about the children's education and curriculum, the "Ghost Rider" actress said, "We're lucky enough to have someone we travel with that can continue their education at this point, and what we do is we try to incorporate the city we're in as much as possible."
