According to an insider,
Prince Harry is thrilled that Meghan Markle signed on to the upcoming film
Close Personal Friends. "
Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy," the source told
The Sun. "This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves."

After taking an eight-year break from Hollywood, Meghan Markle will play herself in the Amazon Prime flick alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson and Jack Quaid. "She has been swamped with offers, but this one felt right," the source said. "It is Meghan's way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Everyone involved is super-excited and has been sworn to secrecy about her involvement."

Meghan Markle retired from acting in 2017 after getting serious with
Prince Harry. In the Duke of Sussex's book
Spare, he recalled watching his now-wife during a steamy scene on
Suits. "I'd witnessed her and a cast mate mauling each other in some sort of office conference room," he wrote. "It would take electric shock therapy to get those images out of my head."

While
Prince Harry might be encouraging of Meghan Markle's Hollywood career, The Firm is reportedly perplexed by the move. "I suspect members of the royal family will be amused that Meghan has gone back to acting, we don't know for how long," expert
Richard Fitzwilliams told
Daily Express.

Additionally, public relations expert
Renae Smith thinks Meghan Markle should focus on her As Ever brand instead of acting. "From a PR standpoint, it feels more like a headline grab than a professional reinvention," she told
Daily Express. "Strategically, it's confusing too. She's spent the past couple of years trying to reposition herself as a businesswoman and philanthropist, then as an influencer/lifestyle brand. But definitely not a performer. This move muddies the narrative. Is she building a brand, or chasing relevance? My guess is she's going for 'anything that will get attention.'"
