On Friday, June 13, Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios Network and the Weather Group settled their $10 billion lawsuit against McDonald's in order to avoid their July 15 court date. The businessman sued the company in 2023 after Allen alleged McDonald's breached their 2021 pledge for inclusion in their partnerships. The film producer called the chain's promise a "lie" and "false promise" due to McDonald's insufficient spending on Allen's companies.
Last year, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mel Recana dismissed the lawsuit, citing California's anti-SLAPP laws and Allen bringing the suit two years before McDonald's self-imposed deadline.
