According to Donald Trump, he and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell have been at odds over the lawyer's refusal to lower interest rates despite the fact that a 12-person committee has to vote on the change."The country has become so successful that it doesn't have a big impact, but it does hurt people wanting to get a mortgage, people want to buy a house. He's a terrible Fed chair," the right-wing politician claimed during a meeting with the press in the Oval Office. "I was surprised he was appointed. I was surprised, frankly, that [Joe] Biden put him in and extended him, but they did."

Following the bold declaration, a video of Donald Trump announcing he was appointing Jerome Powell in 2017 has taken over the internet."As president, there are few decisions more important than nominating leaders of integrity and good judgment to hold trusted positions in public office," The Apprentice star declared in the footage. "And few of those trusted positions are more important than the chairman of Federal Reserve. Accordingly, it is my pleasure and my honor to announce my nomination of Jerome Powell to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve. Congratulations."

Social media users could not get over Donald Trump's major blunder in forgetting he hired Jerome Powell in the first place."Dementia Donny strikes again," one person wrote in a message shared to X.
"This is severe cognitive decline. Forgets his own decisions. Contradicts himself hourly. Can't track basic facts. He needs a neurologist. #DementiaDon," a second user added.
"#TrumpIsSenile," a third chimed in about the commander-in-chief.
