When the journalist questioned the former Governor of South Dakota about people being weary of "government, particularly unelected people, having access to personal data," Noem gave a strange response.
"Well, we can't trust our government anymore," the Trump administration member said.
"You are the government!" Bash emphasized.

"That's what I'm saying," she remarked. "It's that the American people now are saying that we have had our personal information shared."
"Elon Musk is part of the administration that is helping us identify where we can find savings and what we can do," Noem emphasized. "He has gone through the processes to make sure that he has the authority that the president has granted him."

Bash further questioned the right-wing personality on whether she was "totally comfortable" with the amount of power Musk holds within the government sector.
"I am today by the work that he's doing by identifying waste, fraud and abuse," Noem replied. "His information that he has is looking at programs, not focusing on personal data and information. We will be continuing to talk to him about what all he has access to. But this audit needs to happen."

Noem's comments came after the commander-in-chief said he wanted the Telsa founder to probe the Education and Defense Departments next for reckless spending.
"He's not gaining anything. In fact, I wonder how he can devote the time to it," Trump said during an interview with Fox News.

"I'm going to tell him very soon… to go check the Department of Education. He's going to find the same thing. Then, I'm going to go into the military. Let's check the military. We're going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse and the people elected me on that," the businessman explained.
Trump continued to sing Musk's praises, adding, "The people want me to find it [the wasteful spending]. And I've had great help with Elon Musk, who's been terrific."
