Randy Fine took to X to shame Zohran Mamdani's Muslim faith days before he won the primary race: "Zohran Mamdani would do to New York City what [Ruhollah] Khomeini and [Ali] Khamenei did to Tehran," Fine wrote of Iran's Grand Ayatollahs. "We cannot let radical Muslims turn America into a Shiite caliphate."

Fans of Zohran Mamdani defended him against Randy Fine: "If Zohran said anything 10% as incendiary and defamatory about Randy Fine's Judaism, his career would be over and the next issue of The Atlantic would be devoted to meditations on The New Anti-Semitism," one X user wrote.

More X users slammed Randy Fine's comments: "Zohran Mamdani had a bomb threat made against him today," former Ohio senator Nina Turner revealed. "There was an assassination of a Democratic lawmaker not even a week ago, and now a GOP congressman [Fine] is saying this." Said news anchor Mehdi Hasan, "Difficult to sum up how racist Fine is, and how little coverage his racism gets compared to the false attacks of antisemitism against [Rashida] Tlaib and [Ilhan] Omar."
