"Former Congressman Matt Gaetz had an interesting idea, suggesting that if you were to broker a deal where nuclear inspectors go into both Israel and Iran, that you could win a Nobel Peace Prize, and they might even rename it the Trump Peace Prize. Did you hear those [suggestions]? What do you think of that?" a reporter recently asked Donald Trump. "Well, they should give me the Nobel Prize for Rwanda. And if you look to Congo, or you could say Serbia, Kosovo, you can say a lot of them," he replied. "I mean, the big one is India and Pakistan. I should have gotten it four or five times. I should get it for the — I would think the Abraham, of course, would be a good one, too."

Ukraine's Oleksandr Merezhko originally nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in November, but he recently withdrew his nomination. "They won't give me a Nobel Peace Prize because they only give it to liberals," Trump griped.

While Oleksandr Merezhko changed his stance on Donald Trump, the government of Pakistan nominated him for yet another Nobel Peace Prize. The office of India's prime minister,
Narendra Modi, responded to the president's depiction of his role in the conflict between India and Pakistan: "Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, on an India-U.S. Trade Deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the U.S. between India and Pakistan,"
Modi's office reportedly said. "The discussion to cease military action took place directly between India and Pakistan through the existing channels of communication between the two armed forces, and it was initiated at Pakistan's request."

Congressman Buddy Carter, who also nominated Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize, wrote in support of the president, noting that he had an "extraordinary and historic role" in having ended "the armed conflict between Israel and Iran and preventing the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet."

Buddy Carter continued to paint Donald Trump as a peaceful politician in his letter: "President Trump's influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible. President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon," he said.
