Karine Jean-Pierre's new book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, is set to be released in October, but promotional content released in advance revealed the Columbia University alum — who worked with both Joe Biden and Barack Obama — switched her political affiliation."Jean-Pierre didn't come to her decision to be an Independent lightly," Hachette Book Group says in a preview.
"She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden's abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision," the tease adds.

Karine Jean-Pierre faced controversy during Joe Biden's presidency, as voters had concerns about the president's cognitive health. Marketing materials for her book seemingly avoid the topic."In a hard-hitting yet hopeful critique, Jean-Pierre defines what it means to be part of the growing percentage of our fractured electorate that is Independent, why it can be worthwhile to carve a political space more loyal to personal beliefs than a party affiliation, and what questions you need to ask yourself to determine where you fit politically," Hachette Book Group says.

Disappointed Democrats were outraged to hear that Karine Jean-Pierre is distancing herself from the party."What her publisher means to tell readers is that she is INCOMPETENT, not independent. Just incompetent. But we don't need to read about it— we watched it," a critic said.
"Put this 'bombshell' at the top of the [Donald] Trump book-burn pile. Right next to Jake Tapper's own toothless tome," the critic added, referencing the journalist's recently released book about Joe Biden's alleged cognitive decline.

Another top Democrat said of Karine Jean-Pierre's upcoming project, "I can't look away."A former official who previously worked with the press secretary shared that their peers were "cackling in chats all day" and credited Jean-Pierre's shift in ideology to "money."

One of the insiders noted how Karine Jean-Pierre's affiliation swap conflicts with her professional trajectory: "It's just very confusing for the person who was the face of an entire Democratic administration to then leave the Democrats as a whole," they said."The book by its cover looks to be negative about [Joe] Biden. We all assumed they were on good terms," they added. "I am frustrated with the Dems but I'm not going to leave them when they're down. That's weak."
