Taking
to X, Elon Musk reignited his criticism of President Donald Trump's legislation, writing, "The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" He added that the bill favors outdated industries at the expense of innovation: "Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future," he claimed. The bill has already passed in the House and is now under Senate review.

Elon Musk's latest comments follow earlier disapproval of the bill. During a May 28 interview with
CBS News, the SpaceX founder expressed frustration over it: "I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing." Shortly after, he urged his followers to contact their representatives, posting on June 4, "Call your Senator, call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok."

After Elon Musk's comments went viral, President Donald Trump addressed their strained relationship during a June 5 Oval Office briefing: "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore," he said. Musk fired back, claiming he played a key role in Trump's political success: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate," he said. Since then, Trump has taken a more positive tone, telling Fox News on Sunday, June 29, "I think he's a wonderful guy. I haven't spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he's going to do well always."
