During their first full day in the U.K., Prince William and Kate Middleton gave Donald Trump and Melania Trump a warm welcome.
While the president and the Prince of Wales shook hands, Donald went against the status quo by hitting the royal on the arm.

Even though Donald Trump breached protocol, it's unlikely Prince William and Kate Middleton were offended, as he isn't the first U.S. president to perform the gesture.

During Donald Trump's speech at the state banquet at Windsor Castle, Donald Trump praised Kate Middleton's appearance after her cancer battle.
"Melania and I are delighted to visit with Prince William and to see Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine. So radiant, so healthy and so beautiful," the president said.

Kate Middleton previously opened up about her recovery.
"You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult," she said while visiting Colchester Hospital.
