During her June 8 appearance on Sunday Morning Futures, Karoline Leavitt addressed speculation about a confrontation between Elon Musk and Scott Bessent: "I certainly wouldn't describe it as a fistfight," she told host Maria Bartiromo. "It was definitely a disagreement, although I was not there. I didn't witness it with my own eyes.""When this story originally broke, I said from the podium that there have definitely been healthy disagreements amongst the cabinet and Elon Musk," she added.

In newly surfaced claims from April, tensions allegedly grew between Elon Musk and Scott Bessent during an Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump regarding proposed changes to the IRS.According to Steve Bannon, who spoke to The Washington Post, the pair got into a heated shouting match, with Bessent allegedly yelling, "You're a fraud. You're a total fraud."
The situation quickly escalated when Musk reportedly rammed his shoulder into Bessent "like a rugby player," sparking a scuffle.
Bannon further recalled, "President Trump heard about it and said, 'This is too much.'"

Karoline Leavitt claimed that the disagreement reflects how invested members of the administration are in their work: "There were times in which they got frustrated with one another, but I think that really speaks to the heart of this Cabinet and the president's team, that they can have these robust disagreements and then still come together to do what's right for the people they are serving," she said, adding that the president and his team have since "moved on" from the incident._
According to Karoline Leavitt, President Donald Trump's administration is focused on other priorities including passing his Big Beautiful Bill."Cutting waste, fraud and abuse from our government remains a critical component of this administration's agenda," she explained.
Elon Musk, a known critic of the bill, shared his differing opinions last week on X, which resulted in a rift between him and the president.
"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," he wrote on Tuesday, June 3. "Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
