60 Minutes continues after journalists reportedly pleaded with the network to "put up a fierce and unrelenting fight" against the president and his $20 billion lawsuit.

According to TheWrap, Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Bill Whitaker, Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, Jon Wertheim and Cecilia Vega signed a May letter to CBS emphasizing that "the show has always corrected any errors transparently, in keeping with its determination to serve the public as an honest broker of news." CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy wrote that the journalists added that "when they are factually correct, they must defend themselves from attack."

Donald Trump accused CBS of airing a manipulated interview with Kamala Harris to encourage voters to support the former vice president. Despite Trump's victorious return to the White House, he is continuing to accuse the network of interfering with the election. The concerned journalists "pointedly expressed concern that Paramount is failing to put up a fierce and unrelenting fight in the face of Trump's lawsuit over the program's Kamala Harris interview," according to Status.

According to Oliver Darcy, the reporters branded Donald Trump's legal battle as baseless and "warned in no uncertain terms that if Paramount were to settle with Trump, it will stain the reputation of the company and undermine the First Amendment." CBS' legal team shared a similar sentiment. They branded the suit "meritless" and claimed Trump has "not plausibly alleged that he personally suffered 'an injury to a commercial interest in reputation or sales'" and that the Kamala Harris television special is "fully protected editorial speech."

Court documents revealed lawyers are "engaged in good faith, advanced, settlement negotiations" as CBS, Paramount and Donald Trump requested a stay on all proceedings. "The Parties respectfully submit that good cause to stay all proceedings exists because the Parties are engaged in good faith, advanced, settlement negotiations," lawyers penned in a motion filed with a Texas court on Monday, June 30. "Plaintiffs' counsel has conferred with counsel for Defendants, and all Parties have consented to this motion in writing."
