Donald Trump and his administration may be continuing to reward the Capitol rioters.
According to court filings, the Justice Department (DOJ) hinted that some people who allegedly committed crimes on January 6, 2021, could be entitled to getting their money back after paying restitution for the damage they caused to the government building.

According to a legal document reviewed by
The Hill, a defendant filed a request in February to be reimbursed for the restitution they paid.
On Tuesday, April 8, Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Dreher stated that the rioter "is entitled to the return of those funds."
During the attack on the Capitol, the insurrectionists reportedly caused $3 million in damage. The alleged criminals were ordered to hand over $500 if found guilty of a misdemeanor or $2,000 if convicted of a
felony.

Ed Martin made it clear he thought the
rioters should be given their money back after being punished. "We should have reparations for them," the lawyer explained, according to
Politico. "They should get a big pot of money."
Martin has openly called January 6, 2021, a "day of love." He represented many of the people who allegedly assaulted police officers during the attack.

Donald Trump has been extremely outspoken about wanting to make sure the rioters are compensated. During a Tuesday, March 25, interview with
Newsmax host
Greg Kelly, the businessman said there were talks about ensuring the defendants are paid back.
"A lot of the people that are in the government now talk about it because a lot of the people in government really like that group of people," the president said. "I took care of them. I said I was going to and I did. These people are incredible
people. They were treated so unfairly, so horribly. Some of them didn't even go into the building."

Donald Trump also vowed to investigate the death of
Ashli Babbitt — who was shot and killed by U.S.
Capitol Police Lt.
Michael Byrd during the siege.
"Ashli Babbitt was a really good person who was a big MAGA fan, Trump fan. And she was innocently standing there — they even say trying to sort of hold back the crowd. And a man did something to her that was unthinkable when he shot her," he said.
