Before it's time to scarf down turkey and pass the sweet potatoes this November, we need to check out the month's celebrity fashion. First up, a questionable pick from one of the most stylish stars on the planet. Though we love Rihanna, we couldn't get behind the vintage John Galliano number she wore to the "Queen and Slim" premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 14. The black silk gown featured bell sleeves and kimono-style draping that we would have loved without that super-high slit that distracted from the design's overall glamour. And although we didn't like the frock, we loved the strappy Manolo Blahnik sandals and the jeweled handbag she wore to complete her look. Keep reading for more fashion hits and misses for November 2019…
Kacey Musgraves attended the launch of her "The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show" special in her best winter whites! The country music beauty donned this David Koma two-piece ensemble, which featured silver embellishments along the bottom of the crop top and skirt, and added another dash of metallics with those gorgeous silver heels.
We were underwhelmed by Pink's Nov. 13 CMA Awards ensemble. The singer sported this Julea Domani by Zeena Zaki ruffled rust-colored dress, which felt a little too casual for the big night, and strangely opted to top it with a flat-brimmed hat.
Celine Dion showed off her impeccable street style in New York City on Nov. 15. The star was decked out in Chanel — a black-and-gold boucle jacket, black top and leather pants with sky-high stilettos. The only complaint we have with the chic look? The odd double-bag decision!
Though we loved the lovely lilac shade of Jodie Turner-Smith's frothy frock at the "Queen and Slim" premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 14, we didn't like the way she was styled. The black choker necklace and heels felt too sharp against the pastel gown, which would have fared better with soft metallic accessories.
How stunning is Brooke Shields? The star arrived at the "An Evening Honoring Leonard A. Lauder" fashion gala in New York City on Nov. 18 in this gorgeous Ralph Lauren design — a sparkly navy blue velvet gown with a white collar and sleeves. Paired with that red lip, it got us inspired for holiday parties this season.
Bad Bunny's Latin Grammys look on Nov. 14 left a lot to be desired. The star arrived in a massive blue velvet coat, black trousers and dress shoes with huge sunglasses — an ensemble that stood out but didn't land him on the hit list.
Linda Cardellini attended the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations with the "Dead To Me" cast event in Los Angeles on Nov. 19 in this darling white minidress. From the oversized sleeves to the sweet scalloped detailing to the way she completed the look with nude heels, we loved everything about this pretty little getup.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Eva Marcille's look during BravoCon can only be described with one word: messy. She wore a busy embroidered jacket over top a black tee and wide-legged jeans and then topped it all off with a brown leather fringed bag — a mismatched fashion miss.
Obsessed! We loved the feathered top and white pants combo that model Candice Swanepoel wore at the Revolve Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 15. Extra points for those open-toe heels and the way she paired it with a sleek updo!
Yikes! Alyson Stoner rocked a minidress with some seriously massive sleeves at the TrevorLIVE event in Los Angeles on Nov. 17. Unfortunately, the odd sizing totally eclipsed the star's sparkly frock, making this a miss in our book.
Supermodel Gigi Hadid embraced the winter whites trend at the 2019 CMA Awards in a white sleeveless turtleneck dress (while serving as pal Kacey Musgraves' date!) and added pointed-toe white boots to give her look a country twang.
We almost didn't recognize Nina Dobrev at the Guggenheim International Gala in New York City on Nov. 14. Her matronly Dior gown paired with minimal makeup was a strange styling decision and marked one of our least favorite looks of the month.
Elizabeth Hurley glimmered in gold at the "An Evening Honoring Leonard A. Lauder" fashion gala in New York City on Nov. 18. Her short-sleeved evening gown by Neto was covered in stunning gold sequins and paired perfectly with platform gold pumps.
Tyra Banks arrived in style at the Second Annual American Influencer Awards in Hollywood on Nov. 18. The supermodel rocked black-and-white-checkered coordinates with a black bralette underneath for a crisp pink carpet ensemble. The only thing we didn't agree with? Her choices of accessories — those odd gloves and the clear heels wouldn't have been our top picks.
We were wild about the bold orange Prada gown Selena Gomez wore to the ACLU Bill of Rights Dinner in Los Angeles on Nov 17. The pop star sported the long-sleeved dress in the eye-catching shade with a pair of black heels and an equally bold lip hue.
One star who didn't stun on the CMA Awards red carpet? Halsey, who wore this dramatic Nedo ballgown. The printed frock felt over the top and that matching belt and those off-the-shoulder long sleeves didn't help.
Sofia Carson's stunning hot pink confection landed her among the best dressed stars at the Latin Grammy Awards on Nov. 14. Her Giambattista Valli frock featured long ruffled sleeves, a ruffled hemline, a dramatic cape and an ultra-glamorous train. The addition of shiny silver heels was spot-on, making this a five-star look.
Another star who slayed the Latin Grammys red carpet? Rosalia, whose standout black-and-white Carolina Herrera dress wowed on Nov. 14! Even though we're not fans of the overdone high-low hemline, we still put this bold polka-dotted confection on the hit list. And those heart hoop earrings and gorgeous ivory House of CB mules made this look even better!
Here's a color combo that didn't work on Katharine McPhee. The star stepped out in New York City on Nov. 19 in this pink Tanya Taylor sweater tucked into a high-waisted emerald green leather skirt with a center slit. If that wasn't puzzling enough, she also added some strappy silver sandals to the mix, making this a street style moment we don't want to replicate.
At the MTV EMAs on Nov. 3, Nicole Scherzinger got in the holiday spirit with this ruby red minidress. The former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman wore the sequined long-sleeved mini with black patent stilettos and a nude lip for a standout look.
Another vision in red this month? Kim Kardashian West, who wowed in this high-necked, long-sleeved gown. She wore the vintage Dior design with clear Manolo Blahnik sandals for the Second Annual American Influencer Awards in Hollywood on Nov. 18.
We adored Alexa Demie on "Euphoria," but we weren't wild about the sparkly gown she wore to the Golden Globe Ambassador Launch Party in Los Angeles on Nov. 14. The slinky spaghetti-strap design with various metallic shades definitely wasn't our favorite look of the month.
A Bravo star's look we loved during BravoCon in New York City on Nov. 15? Cameran Eubanks' adorable Alice + Olivia frock! We adored the multicolored cap-sleeved minidress and the way she added tights and booties to the mix.
Sheryl Crow's CMA Awards red carpet getup landed her among the hits this month. That beautiful beaded and sequined gown featured pretty jewel-toned colors in a mosaic-like pattern atop a long-sleeved and slinky floor-length design.
Check out this sartorial nightmare from Katy Perry! The star arrived at a press conference in Mumbai, India, on Nov. 12 in this funky getup. Those cartoonishly large sleeves and that massive and bold polka dot print weren't great on their own, but when paired with those tacky feathered heels, this look quickly earned a fashion citation.
Zendaya never lets us down on a red carpet, and the People's Choice Awards on Nov. 11 were no exception. The stylish star opted for this divine asymmetrical Christopher Esber gown with one tiny spaghetti strap holding things in place plus embellished detailing at the waist that gave way to some interestingly placed cut-outs. Great call to pair it with simple black heels, a red lip and an updo to keep the focus on this stunning gown.
Denim on denim on… leather? Kim Kardashian West's Burberry ensemble at the WSJ Innovator Awards in New York City on Nov. 6 really fell flat for us. Besides not looking like it came from the fashion house, the bizarre denim balloon sleeves paired with those hideous part denim/part leather pants was just a flat-out miss.
Millie Bobby Brown scored an A+ for this sweet white and black-trimmed minidress that she wore to a "Stranger Things" Season 3 screening in Los Angeles on Nov. 9. Her Givenchy confection featured barely-there spaghetti straps and ruffled off-the-shoulder sleeves with a black ruffled tulle border and ended in a sweet pleated hemline.
Why, Jameela Jamil? The "The Good Place" star wore this hideous Balmain getup to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City on Nov. 11. She scored an instant miss with the orange-and-black eyesore of an ensemble featuring a sequined corset waist — and she added insult to injury when she paired it with those polka dot tights.
Gigi Hadid gave us a modern-day take on Cinderella in this beautiful Burberry frock at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards in New York City on Nov. 6. The sweet long-sleeved, knee-length design featured exaggerated sleeves and a flared hemline. Extra points for those perfectly matching pumps.
Though two-piece looks have been popular on the red carpet lately, we weren't wild about Kelsea Ballerini's take on the trend at the People's Choice Awards on Nov. 10. The country crooner donned this bubblegum pink set by Raise Vanessa that featured plenty of ruffled tulle that we would have preferred to have seen as a minidress rather than a crop top and miniskirt.
Awkwafina arrived at Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach Project fundraising event in New York City on Nov. 12 in this killer green suit. She paired the eye-catching Bella Freud design with a black shirt and kept things buttoned up and cool.
Anna Kendrick's white minidress at the premiere of "Noelle" in New York City on Nov. 11 would have been fine… without that tacky oversized bow at the back. The otherwise pretty frock featured a black belted detail that gave way to a really dramatic train that felt unbalanced contrasted with the tiny dress.
Brittany Snow wowed in a Temperley London gown at the People's Choice Awards on Nov. 11. The star donned this beautiful intricately beaded black-and-silver frock with thin straps and a flowing floor-length skirt, landing herself on the hit list.
Maybe it's not a shock that Paris Hilton opted for a look straight from the aughts at the boohoo.com Holiday Party in Los Angeles on Nov. 7. Needless to say, this tacky golden two-piece ensemble landed among the misses this month.
Lucy Hale's Cong Tri jumpsuit certainly stood out at the People's Choice Awards on Nov. 11. The star's unique one-piece featured a one-sleeved design and a keyhole cut-out at the top of the silky bodice and gave way to wide-legged trousers that worked perfectly with those platform sandals.
The white strapless Givenchy frock that Charlize Theron wore to the Glamour Women of the Year 2019 event in New York City on Nov. 11 left a lot to be desired. From the odd edges on the neckline to the asymmetrical design as the gown gave way to feathers and pleating, this unbalanced look fell flat.
A white dress that worked? Idina Menzel's pretty sleeveless design at the "Frozen II" premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 7. We loved the simplicity of this stark white gown.
Scarlett Johansson wore this questionable Louis Vuitton dress to the premiere of "Marriage Story" in Los Angeles on Nov. 5. The strapless confection featured a printed bodice with odd zipper details and a shiny purple skirt that looked like anything but couture.
We adored Emma Roberts' tangerine frock at the "Very Ralph" premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 11. From the spaghetti straps to the mid-length cut and the way she paired it with metallic sandals, we loved every inch of this look.
We're used to loving Yara Shahidi's every fashion move, but the high-low hemline and dueling fabrics on the Schiaparelli frock she wore to the Glamour Women of the Year 2019 event in New York City on Nov. 11 amounted in a miss for us. It started out fine, with a sleek black bodice and thin straps, but it gave way to a bold floral print and a bottom half that was half miniskirt, half dramatic ballgown skirt with a subtle train — an overall confusing ensemble.
The black-and-white Vika Gazinskaya gown Nicole Richie wore to the Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles on Nov. 9 was one of the best looks of the night with its two-toned bodice and singular black stripe down the full skirt.
Halloween has come and gone, so we're a little confused as to why Paris Jackson decided to dress like the twirling woman emoji. Michael Jackson's daughter arrived at the Ryan Gordy Foundation 60 Years of Motown Celebration in Beverly Hills on Nov. 11 in this black-and-red pleated and tiered design that looked more like a costume than a dress for the event.
Gorgeous in Gucci! Sienna Miller arrived at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles on Nov. 2 in this stunning thin-strapped, sequined design. We loved how the black gown was anything but boring with its subtle sparkles, and the way she added color when it came to her necklace.
We know tie dye is in, but we couldn't get behind this bizarre two-piece getup Halsey wore in London on Nov. 8. But we will admit that the star's cropped turtleneck and matching pants went well with those chic white boots.
Kristen Stewart's multicolored sparkly mini seriously stood out at the "Charlie's Angels" premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 11. We loved her long-sleeved funky Germanier dress, which featured cut-outs at the waist and paired perfectly with those navy suede pumps.
RaeLynn didn't exactly dress to impress at the BMI Country Awards in Nashville on Nov. 12. The singer sported this pink-and-white minidress with quite the odd silhouette and inexplicably paired it with strappy red heels. Next!
Yikes. Dua Lipa's bizarre electric blue Mugler design at the MTV EMAs in Seville, Spain, on Nov. 3 wasn't one of our favorites this month. The odd blazer-like frock featured cut-outs down the bodice and didn't fare well with those blue tights and silky boots.
We weren't wild about Drew Barrymore's super-casual look at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Mountain View, California, on Nov. 3. The star arrived in this Givenchy getup comprised of a crossed black blazer, black camisole and white trousers with a black rope belt. And though her silver heels dressed up the look a tad, overall, it didn't feel like a red carpet ensemble.
