Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at some of the best royal maternity looks over the years. Let's start with this summer ensemble from Britain's Princess Beatrice of York… The pregnant princess wore a black-and-white polka-dot dress by Self-Portrait to attended the Wimbledon tennis championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on July 8, 2021, with husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi.

Two weeks after announcing her first pregnancy, newlywed Princess Beatrice debuted her growing baby bump in a green dress accessorized with a denim jacket, designer sneakers and a Panama hat while shopping in London with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on June 7, 2021.

In January 2019, Duchess Meghan — who was pregnant with her first child, son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, at the time — wore a purple dress by Aritzia under a red coat by Sentaler and carried Gabriela Hearst's Nina bag in tan leather during an outing in Birkenhead.

Princess Eugenie was pregnant with her first child, son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank — who arrived in February 2021 — when she stepped out in London in September 2020 wearing this floral-print belted dress with heeled boots and a matching coat five days after she publicly announced her pregnancy.

A seven-months-pregnant Sarah, Duchess of York followed sister-in-law Princess Diana's lead by wearing loose-fitting maternity styles. In this June 1988 picture, Sarah — who was two months away from giving birth to Princess Beatrice — wore a sailor dress paired with matching heels and white gloves.

A pregnant Princess Sofia — who was expecting her first child, Prince Alexander, at the time — glowed in a gold sequined maternity gown while attending a dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden, with husband Prince Carl Philip in February 2016.

Another fashionable royal mommy-to-be was Princess Diana, seen here while pregnant with Prince William in 1982 alongside friend (and future duchess) Sarah Ferguson. The princess was fond of loose, flowing maternity styles, like this teal-and-white polka-dot muumuu with a playful bow neckline. Diana also wasn't afraid to repeat a look. She wore this same dress in June 1982 when she and Prince Charles introduced their new son to the world on the steps of St. Mary's Hospital in London.

Perhaps paying homage to Princess Diana, Duchess Kate opted for a blue-and-white polka-dot custom-made Jenny Packham dress when she and Prince William introduced their firstborn, Prince George, to the world in July 2013 on the steps of St. Mary's Hospital in London. Instead of long and loose, however, Kate went with the fitted shift dress and proudly displayed her post-baby bump.

Prince Albert II of Monaco joined wife Princess Charlene — who wore a roomy and silky royal blue sleeveless dress while pregnant with their twins — at his foundation's award ceremony in Palm Springs, California, in October 2014.

Belgium's then-Princess Mathilde, who was pregnant with third child Prince Emmanuel at the time, wore a bump-hugging T-shirt with matching maternity trousers and a long floral-patterned coat as she and then-Prince Philippe took eldest daughter Princess Elisabeth back to school in Brussels in September 2005.

British royals have Queen Elizabeth (right) to thank for setting a precedent for great maternity fashion. In 1948, Elizabeth was still a princess and around six months pregnant with her first child, Prince Charles, when she appeared at Ballater Station in London in 1948 alongside her little sister, Princess Margaret. Both women wore matching coat dresses with identical purses, except Elizabeth wore dark pumps and matching gloves and a heavily embroidered blouse underneath.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden wore a gorgeous pink maternity gown by Elie Saab when she and husband Chris O'Neill and daughter Princess Leonore attended the wedding of her brother, Prince Carl Philip, and Sofia Hellqvist at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 2015. She gave birth to son Prince Nicolas just two days later!

A few weeks after wearing this plum coat over a bump-hugging printed dress to an award ceremony in Madrid in April 2007, Spain's then-Princess Letizia gave birth to her second child, Infanta Sofia.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark joined Princess Mary — who wore a chic, loose-fitting black one-shouldered dress while pregnant with their twins — at a dinner in their honor at Schloss Schwerin Palace in Schwerin, Germany, in September 2010.

During her royal visit to Morocco with Prince Harry in February 2019, expectant Duchess Meghan wore a beautiful, bright blue printed dress by Carolina Herrera for a private meeting with King Mohammed VI.

Charlotte Casiraghi — the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Hanover — wore a sparkly gold-and-black maternity dress during her pregnancy with son Balthazar Rassam while attending the Longines Global Champions Tour in Monte-Carlo with uncle Prince Albert II of Monaco in July 2018.

Princess Diana wore a stunning baby blue wrap dress while pregnant with Prince Harry in 1984 as she and Prince Charles made their way into a Royal Tournament event in London.

Duchess Kate wore this cream JoJo Maman Bebe coat-dress with chocolate pumps and a matching clutch while visiting the Pegasus Primary School in Oxford, England, in March 2018 while pregnant with Prince Louis.

In February 2018, Duchess Kate made our jaws drop when she stepped out with Norway's King Harald wearing a blush pink Alexander McQueen evening gown with a tulle cape overlay and jeweled collar. The dress had an empire waist that allowed her six-and-a-half-month baby bump to shine.

Duchess Meghan dressed her baby bump in a body-hugging navy blue sequined Rouland Mouret gown for the 10th anniversary premiere of Cirque du Soleil's "Totem" at London's Royal Albert Hall, benefiting the Sentebale charity, in January 2019.

Princess Anne has always had a style that's beyond the times and she proved that to be true in 1981 while pregnant with her second child, Zara Tindall (née Phillips). The Princess Royal wore a cream-colored coat dress with an elegant cape and added a pop of contrast with a satiny blue long-sleeved shirt and matching headscarf.

Sarah, Duchess of York was a lady in red in June 1988 while pregnant with her first child, Princess Beatrice. Her crimson gown with puff sleeves and a damask floral print was paired with black velvet gloves and black suede heels.

Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria was expecting Prince Oscar when she wore this rich berry maternity gown to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm in December 2015.

An eight-months-pregnant Princess Anne — who was expecting first child Peter Phillips at the time — wore a casual and very '70s ensemble while watching first husband Captain Mark Phillips carry off a silver trophy at an equestrian event in 1977.

Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall (seen here with husband Mike Tindall in January 2018), welcomed her second child — daughter Lena — in the summer of 2018. While Zara often can be found in horse-riding attire (she's a silver medal-winning Olympic equestrian), we caught a glimpse of her in Australia wearing an adorable black babydoll maternity dress with lace panel inserts and a collar.

Sarah, Duchess of York took her maternity look uptown when she arrived in New York City in 1990 while pregnant with Princess Eugenie. Wearing a long-sleeved charcoal shift dress with sheer black nylons, gold-adorned black pumps and some killer shades, Fergie's pregnancy style oozed business chic.

It's clear that Princess Diana was not about to sacrifice comfort while pregnant. Still, she didn't let that be an excuse for looking dowdy. Seen here in 1984 while pregnant with Prince Harry, Diana wore a vibrant fuchsia dress with a matching bag and pumps, layering the look with a soft pink mohair sweater.

Another royal who does fuchsia so well is Duchess Kate, seen here in 2015 while pregnant with her second child, Princess Charlotte. Kate wore this bright pink double-breasted Mulberry coat with black pumps and a cute black clutch while visiting Christ Church in South London. It's hard to believe, but Kate was nearly eight months pregnant in this picture.

While pregnant with son Archie, Duchess Meghan wore a white Calvin Klein turtleneck dress with a matching Amanda Wakeley coat to the Natural History Museum gala performance of "The Wider Earth" in London in support of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust and The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy in February 2019.

A month later, a pregnant Duchess Meghan stunned in another mostly white maternity look — a 1970s-inspired chain-print dress, a white coat and deep green shoes, all by Victoria Beckham, along with a white pillbox hat as she arrived at London's Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day service in March 2019.

The lovely Princess Margaret (sister of Queen Elizabeth II) was known for her love of glamorous fashion and that didn't change when she was pregnant. Seen here in March 1964 — less than two months before she gave birth to her second child, Lady Sarah Chatto (née Armstrong-Jones) — the princess was all smiles in a black satin jacket with a matching black shirt dress adorned with a shiny broach.

Duchess Kate is all about clothes that hug her curves, especially her growing baby bump! In March 2018, Kate re-wore a tailored blue Seraphine Marlene dress featuring a delicate blue lace bodice and bell cuffs. Of course, she paired the look with black heels and a black clutch, which matched nicely with her waistband.

Princess Diana was six months pregnant with Prince Harry in this June 1984 picture. Wearing a flowing coral two-piece skirt and dress look with pleat detailing and a matching sun hat, the princess hardly even looked like she was with child.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a lacy white maternity gown while pregnant with son Prince Oscar at an official dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden, in February 2016 with husband Prince Daniel.

In April 2013 while six months pregnant with Prince George, Duchess Kate was pretty in peach in a gorgeous coat paired with a neutral shift dress and matching heels.

Princess Diana wore a loose-fitting peachy-pink maternity dress with a pearl choker and a white sweater while pregnant with Prince William in 1981.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore a bump-hugging lacy blue dress to an award ceremony in Stockholm in February 2016 just a few weeks before she gave birth to Prince Oscar.

Although Princess Diana tended to wear loose maternity dresses, she wasn't against occasionally wearing something beautifully fitted to her body. Seen here with Prince Charles in March 1984 while pregnant with Prince Harry, Diana was alight in a glittery red ball gown with a ruffled bust and hemline.

Duchess Meghan donned a chic Safiyaa ensemble — a sequin bustier top with an asymmetrical peplum overlay featuring a leaf pattern, which she wore with a long black skirt — during her first Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium in November 2018 while pregnant with son Archie.

Queen Elizabeth II was pregnant with her fourth (and youngest) child, Prince Edward, in this November 1963 image. The queen, whose coronation took place 10 years earlier, kept her maternity look smart with a two-piece outfit embellished with shimmery sleeve detail. The monarch paired the jacket and skirt with black heels, a decorative shirt and a hefty bracelet.

Two months after wearing this beautiful red embellished dress to a Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts event in Stockholm in February 2016, Sweden's Princess Sofia gave birth to son Prince Alexander.

Duchess Kate had us doing a double-take when she sported this long-sleeved Dalmatian-print dress in March 2015 while pregnant with Princess Charlotte. Kate previously wore this fun look when she was pregnant with Prince George.

Maybe it was Princess Anne, seen here while eight months pregnant with daughter Zara Tindall (née Phillips) in 1981, who set the tone for loose, flowing maternity dresses. Wearing a playful patterned, high-collared gown featuring a bow and puffed sleeves, the princess looked comfortably stylish while out and about in London.

Simple and chic! While pregnant with her second child, Prince Gabriel, Princess Sofia of Sweden wore a bump-hugging black dress with a matching jacket to a sustainability seminar in Sweden in August 2017.

While pregnant with Prince William in 1981, Princess Diana took her maternity look up a few notches in a red Bellville Sassoon coat that she topped with a blue hat by John Boyd. The coat, with pops of yellow and blue, had a high ruffled neckline and complementary fringed hem. The princess tied the look together with blue heels and a matching clutch.

Once again wearing Seraphine, Duchess Kate looked radiant in a blue empire-waist dress that put her growing baby bump on display at the First Annual Royal Foundation Forum in February 2018.

Duchess Kate proved in this patterned blue-and-black Erdem dress with sheer sleeves that she can also go semi-casual with her maternity looks and still be stunning. This picture, from February 2018, was taken while Kate was at the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange Reception in London.

She really knocked it out of the fashion park on day two of her Down Under tour in October 2018! Shortly after announcing her first pregnancy — son Archie arrived in 2019 — Duchess Meghan donned Figue's silk Frederica-style dress in a pink floral print along with black espadrille wedges by Castañer and carried a cool black-and-taupe woven clutch that came from a local market.
