While making an appearance on the "Fly on the Wall" podcast with Dana Carvey and David Spade, Bryan Cranston reflected on how his television family has matured since the show ended in 2006."It's amazing how these boys who were my boys on that show are now around the same age I was when we first started, and they've got children of their own," Cranston shared.

Bryan Cranston later shared that former costar Erik Per Sullivan is "the only one who didn't come back to act in the show," as he is now furthering his education."I talked to Eric and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it," Cranston said, as the now-33-year-old is getting his master's degree. "But it's fantastic.'"

Bryan Cranston shared that Erik Per Sullivan is currently enrolled at an Ivy League university."He's actually going to Harvard," Cranston revealed. "He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was 9 or something. So I'm not into it.'"

Bryan Cranston also shared that rebooting Malcolm in the Middle is something he's been wanting to do for years."It's something I was pushing for for the last 10 years, because I thought that the audience is there," he said, but it took some time to get the series' creator, Linwood Boomer, on board.
"I just started wearing him down until he said, 'I've got an idea.' I said, 'good,'" Cranston added.

While Erik Per Sullivan won't be returning to the small screen, Jane Kaczmarek, Frankie Muniz, Christopher Masterson, and Justin Berfield will reprise their respective roles as Lois, Malcolm, Francis and Reese, respectively.Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will replace Sullivan.
