President Donald Trump fired two Democratic employees from the Federal Trade Commission.On Tuesday, March 18, staffers Alvaro Bedoya and Rebecca Kelly Slaughter revealed the commander-in-chief dismissed them from their jobs at the typically independent government agency to seemingly break down barriers to achieve his political agenda.

"I am a commissioner at the Federal Trade Commission. The president just illegally fired me," Alvaro Bedoya wrote on X about Donald Trump. "This is corruption, plain and simple."While the White House confirmed the dismissals of the two employees, the entity did not give further information as to why they were let go from their jobs.

"Today the president illegally fired me from my position as a federal trade commissioner, violating the plain language of a statute and clear Supreme Court precedent," Rebecca Kelly Slaughter explained in a statement via The New York Times about Donald Trump's action. "Why? Because I have a voice. And he is afraid of what I'll tell the American people."According to Reuters, Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya will be taking legal action against the Trump administration to get their jobs back.

The Federal Trade Commission was formed to enforce a number of antitrust and consumer protection laws across the United States. The sitting committee is normally made up of three people from the current president's party and two from the opposition party.In 1935, the Supreme Court ruled commissioners at the agency could only be fired for cause, such as neglect of duty. This was enacted the protect workers from whoever was in the White House.

When U.S. District Judge James Boasberg attempted to temporarily halt the deportation of a group of illegal immigrants from the Tren de Aragua gang, the businessman and Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent the people out of America anyway."Any plane containing these folks that is going to take off or is in the air needs to be returned to the United States," the legal authority ordered during a hearing about the matter.

On Sunday, March 16, Marco Rubio confirmed the illegal immigrants were sent back to El Salvador and Honduras."Under the President's direction, his administration invoked the Alien Enemies Act to initiate the removal of hundreds of dangerous members of Tren de Aragua (TdA), a vicious and violent Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), which has been threatening our nation, conducting irregular warfare and terrorizing Americans," the former Florida senator explained in a statement.
