Arnold Schwarzenegger got himself into hot water while discussing immigration.During a Tuesday, June 17, appearance on The View, the former governor of California gave a controversial piece of advice to people coming to America from another country, prompting the panelists to push back.

While sitting with the women of the daytime series, Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his take on legal and illegal immigration. However, the FUBAR actor — who came to the United States from Austria — made one statement that stunned some of the panelists."When you come to America, you're a guest," Schwarzenegger said. "And you have to behave like a guest."
"I just think the world of the great history that we have with immigrants in America, but the key thing also is at the same time, that we've got to do things legal. That is the most important thing," he added.

Whoopi Goldberg appeared outraged by Arnold Schwarzenegger's remark. "90 percent of the people who come here are trying to do the right thing," the Oscar winner told him.Sunny Hostin told the former politician that according to statistics, immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than people who were born in the United States.
Schwarzenegger doubled down on his remark, comparing immigrants to guests in someone's home who should "keep things clean" and "make their bed." The Terminator actor also suggested people coming to America should offer to do volunteer work, even without pay.
"You have a responsibility as an immigrant to give back to America and to pay back to America and go and do something for your community for no money whatsoever. Give something back to after-school programs, Special Olympics, or whatever it is, make this a better place," he noted.

Despite Arnold Schwarzenegger's controversial take, the A-lister emphasized the need for everyone to come together to find a solution in order to benefit the American people."If they really want to be public servants, they need to solve this issue," he stated. "If they want to be party servants and be party hacks, and be tied to their ideology, then it won't happen."
